Abstract
The digital transformation of agriculture is largely based on the integrated implementation of a number of digital technologies within the interrelated concepts of precision farming and smart agriculture. Despite the fact that individual elements of precision farming have been used for more than 20 years, only now are integrated solutions in the field of sustainable resource-saving crop production that combine various types of sensors, Internet of Things technologies, automated and unmanned vehicles, robotic production systems, platform technologies for processing large data and machine learning. This paper provides an overview of the integrated implementation of digital technologies in sustainable resource-saving crop production and highlights the various types of technologies that are currently used in precision agriculture. This article would be of interest to researchers and practitioners in the field of agriculture who are interested in the digital transformation of the industry through the implementation of precision farming and smart agriculture technologies.
